“Our lab mix, Luna, will be 9 years old and she has advanced arthritis. We heard that Dr. Vishoot was offering acupuncture, we thought it would be a great thing to try for our girl, just to see if it might help. She was much more engaged in playtimes and limping much less almost immediately after her first treatment, we were very impressed. She continued to feel better after her second and third treatments. We’re very pleased, much more so than we even expected, and so glad our girl is feeling so much better. Thank you, Dr. Vishoot and Cloud Bear Healing Arts!” Melinda T., Brian Z. and “Luna”

Acupuncture

Many relax when the needles are inserted, and some patients (even cats!) fall asleep during the treatment.

Veterinary Medical Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that is rapidly gaining support in modern evidence-based medicine.

Numerous peer-reviewed studies show its benefits for a variety of conditions, including pain control, digestive ailments, urinary problems, liver or kidney disease, eye or ear conditions, cancer pain or side effects of chemotherapy, stiffness or lameness and more. It is also one of the safest forms of veterinary treatment.

You may be wondering why acupuncture is effective for so many different conditions. The simplest answer is that acupuncture affects the nervous system, and the nervous system influences the entire body. Thus acupuncture has widespread effects. The body’s natural regulating and disease-fighting mechanisms are positively affected, and physical and emotional well-being are promoted.

As my teacher Bonnie Wright likes to point out: Acupuncture nudges the body systems to shift back toward homeostasis.

Because acupuncture needles are of such fine diameter, most animals don’t experience discomfort when the needles are placed. Many relax when the needles are inserted, and some patients (even cats!) fall asleep during the treatment.

“Dr. Vishoot is an amazing healer through a combination of acupuncture, massage, and laser therapy. Her knowledge of veterinary medicine combined with her training as an acupuncturist makes her an invaluable resource for our pets. Dr. Vishoot creates a very relaxing environment for the pets — my dog Mochi falls asleep every time Dr. Vishoot works on him. He is doing great thanks to all of her terrific care. I would highly recommended her to anyone looking for treatment for their painful dog!” C.O., Penn Valley, CA

Laser Therapy

The lasers I use are safe, soothing, and animals love the effects!

 Laser Therapy

I want your pets’ visits to be positive to help promote
healing and overall well-being.

Treatment sessions will usually begin with relaxing and pain-relieving laser therapy followed by placement of acupuncture needles and/or laser acupuncture, as indicated.

Technically known as photobiomodulation therapy, laser therapy is light energy focused on target tissues using a ‘low level’ or ‘cold’ laser, as opposed to a ‘hot’ surgical one. Low level lasers don’t cut, and when applied properly they don’t burn.

By emitting light at specific wavelengths, laser therapy works at the area of pain or injury by affecting blood flow and local cell metabolism resulting in decreased pain and accelerated healing.

The article NASA Research Illuminates Medical Uses of Light describes how research into laser/LED therapy was funded through NASA grants. The manufacturer of my laser therapy unit, Multi Radiance Medical, has incorporated many of the NASA findings and is featured in the article.
